HOWDY!

During the winter break the mathematics department offers the Personalized Precalculus Program (PPP) for students needing to take MATH 142.  The program is recommended for students who want to improve their math skills and increase the likelihood of success in MATH 142 at Texas A&M University. This program is fully online and requires a commitment of 7 days spanned across two weeks.  This type of on-demand learning is helpful for all students, but particularly those students who have demonstrated weakness in their mathematical skill set as gauged by their score on the TAMU Math Placement Exam (MPE). We strongly encourage students to take the winter PPP before taking the MPE for MATH 142 or for students who took MATH 140 and would like additional practice on the precalculus concepts covered in that class. To view the dates of the winter sessions, click on the Winter PPP Dates link at the top of the screen.

The winter PPP is led by highly-qualified math tutors who meet with students synchronously online for 2 hours each day. All tutors in the program have at least 5-years precalculus or calculus teaching experience at either the high school or collegiate level.  Because the sessions are conducted in real-time, all PPP participants can interact with the tutor via voice over IP, webcam, or text chat. In the nearly 10 years of PPP’s existence, students always report that the most valuable part of the PPP is the tutors that work with the students daily.

To accommodate for the varying schedules that students have during the winter break, the sessions start on January 3 with different time slots. The cost of enrollment for the winter session is $70 (No tax and Non-Refundable).  Scholarships for the program are available for students who demonstrate a financial need.
